Join Tomato Lovers & Participate in the Ukrainian Tribute Growout!

The Ukrainian Tribute Growout is a great opportunity for tomato lovers to get their hands on some unique and delicious varieties. The deadline for sending in seeds was October 15th, but there are still plenty of ways to get involved. Here's what you need to know about the project.

First, make sure your seeds are dry before sending them in. You should also label each packet with the variety name, date, and a brief description (e.g. 5-7 oz Orange, mid season). It's easiest to create a Word document that duplicates the details of each packet and then print it out and slip it into each pack. Additionally, include a self-addressed stamped envelope so you can receive different seeds back from the organizer.

Participants were asked to send in at least five packets of seeds, though many sent more than that. This way, the organizer could ensure everyone received at least five different Ukrainian varieties. All envelopes have now been posted and should arrive around Thanksgiving time.

If you missed the deadline or didn't have any Ukrainian varieties to send in, don't worry - there are still other ways to get involved! For example, someone recently went online and ordered some Greek Elephant Gigantes beans for growout. They came with some free seeds too! So even if you're late to the tribute, there are still opportunities to participate.
