Tomatoes are a popular vegetable that many gardeners look forward to harvesting each year. Depending on the variety, climate and other conditions, the date of the first ripe tomato can vary greatly. In Southwest Missouri, late June to July 1st is usually when the first tomatoes are ready for picking.
